For 2016, Subaru and Mitsubishi unveiled the latest game-changing vehicles in their lineups: the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2016 Outlander. Both are slated to deliver great performances as well as the features needed to better enjoy the roads of Syracuse, Oneida, and Liverpool.
But which has the upper hand in overall driving experience? To find out, check out the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Mitsubishi Outlander comparison provided by Bill Rapp Subaru below!
2016 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Mitsubishi Outlander Fuel Economy
Both the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and the Mitsubishi Outlander produce impressively powerful performances thanks to their strong powertrains. However, their similarities don't extend to fuel economy.
The standard engine in the Crosstrek features a unique horizontal design and a Dual Active Valve Control System to enhance efficiency. Overall it gets up to an EPA-estimated 31 highway mpg. The engine in the Mitsubishi Outlander can also provide an EPA-estimated 31 highway mpg.
However, the Subaru Crosstrek offers another powertrain option in its hybrid models. In addition to its exclusive engine, these trims come with an electric motor. Together, they further enhance fuel economy, which results in an overall EPA-estimated 34 highway mpg. The Mitsubishi Outlander, unfortunately, doesn't offer a hybrid model for added efficiency.
All-Weather Capabilities in the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek
In addition to a fuel-efficient powertrain, the 2016 Crosstrek comes with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. When this system detects adverse road conditions, it automatically sends the necessary power to each wheel for control and stability. Best of all, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is a standard feature across the Crosstrek family.
The Mitsubishi Outlander also includes an all-wheel drive system to help you take on anything the roads may throw at you. Unfortunately, this drivetrain is only an available feature for the Outlander, so it won't be equipped in all of this SUV's models.
Entertainment and Safety Technologies
When comparing entertainment and safety technologies, the amenities found in the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and Mitsubishi Outlander are similar. However, you'll find that the Crosstrek provides more features for your enjoyment and protection.
In terms of entertainment, the famous Subaru STARLINK™ infotainment system is a standard amenity on all trim levels of the Crosstrek. Subaru EyeSight® is available as well for a wide variety of driver-assist technologies to help you avoid potential collisions. On top of that, the Crosstrek comes with the optional STARLINK™ Safety Plus and Security Plus Package for remote services and emergency assistance when needed.
The Outlander also comes with an infotainment system and driver assist technologies for your entertainment and safety. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer an additional security package for added peace of mind and professional assistance when you need it most.
Which Vehicle Is Best for You?
Between the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, the car that best meets your needs is the Subaru Crosstrek. With its impressive fuel-efficient performance, its standard all-wheel drive system, and wide variety of features, it has everything you need for your travels through the area.
