Drivers in the Syracuse, Liverpool and Oneida area are getting excited because the 2017 Subaru Forester is almost here. Last year, the 2016 Subaru Forester was one of the top selling crossover SUVs and 2017 will be no different. In this article, we're going to give you an overview of the midsize SUV. We'll also give you an idea of when you can get behind the wheel to give it a test drive.
2017 Subaru Forester Engine Updates
The 2017 Subaru Forester featuresa 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder engine. Like 2016's model, this engine will allow the Subaru Forester to reach 170 horsepower. Drivers can always upgrade their engine to the 2-liter turbocharged engine, which sees a massive increase in horsepower to 250.
The base level features a standard 6-speed manual transmission but drivers can opt for the Continously Variable Transmission for more versatility. The major difference between the 2017 Subaru Forester and its predecessor is fuel economy. The 2017 Subaru Forester gets an EPA estimated 26/32 mpg city/highway. The previous year's model got 22/29 mpg city/highway, according to EPA estimates.
Another new addition to the 2017 Subaru Forests is Active Torque Vectoring. This system, working with the Vehicle Dynamics System, ensures balance during turns. It kicks on when you're accelerating out of a corner. It applies slight brake pressure to the front wheels to ensure a smooth and safe turn. This system comes standard on turbo models.
The 2017 Forester will also feature a bevy of driver-assisting technology like the EyeSight system. This system uses exterior cameras which help detect large approaching objects and notifies you to alter your course. This system also features Reverse Automatic Braking, which detects objects during reverse driving and applies brake pressure during low speeds to prevent a collision.
2017 Subaru Forester Interior
Drivers will notice a quieter and more comfortable ride with the new and redesigned interior. The thicker windows and redesigned door seals offer sound insulation, allowing you to listen to your music comfortably without exterior wind and engine sounds affecting your ride.
An added convenience to your comfort is the 2-position memory seating. This is a major advantage for shared driving duties because it allows you to pre-set your desired seating and mirror positions. This results in a quicker seat adjustment without having to meticulously find your sweet spot.
Drivers can access their media options using the STARLINK™ 6.2-inch color touch screen display. Drivers who upgrade will see that their touch screen is 7-inch. Further options include navigation, which displays your GPS location while providing you with turn-by-turn directions so you can get to your destination with ease. This system also includes a 3-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic® and Travel Link®, which give you important details about what lies on the road ahead.
