There's a lot to like about the Subaru WRX, from its powerful engines and adept handling to its spacious interior and standard all-wheel drive. One of its best attributes, however, is its long list of standard and available safety features that make the drive safer.

Drivers in Oneida, Syracuse, and Liverpool can learn more about the Subaru WRX safety features and safety ratings with our safety review.

Subaru WRX: EyeSight® Suite

The Subaru WRX is available with the Subaru EyeSight® suite of safety technology. This bundle of features includes some of the top technology for driver protection and collision prevention. Features like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist work to keep you at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, as well as inside your intended lane. If these systems detect a problem, they'll send an alert and gently guide you back to a safe position.

Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are similar features that keep you protected from dangers in your vehicle's blind spots. These systems send alerts if other vehicles, pedestrians, or obstructions are viewed in the area just outside your vision, so you can take appropriate preventive measures.

Finally, Pre-Collision Braking and Reverse Automatic Braking are systems that monitor the distance between your vehicle and other vehicles or obstructions. If you get too close to another object, these systems will apply the brakes to prevent a collision or reduce its effects.

Subaru STARLINKâ„¢ Safety and Security Telematics

The Subaru WRX is also available with STARLINK™ Safety and Security telematics, which help to keep you and your vehicle safe, whether you're inside your vehicle using your computer or on your cell phone. This system includes Automatic Collision Notification, which automatically alerts emergency personnel in the event of a collision, and Enhanced Roadside Assistance for issues on the road.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Remote Services are also included, which use remote capabilities to help you locate and remotely lock or unlock your vehicle as needed. These features provide access to your vehicle from anywhere with connectivity.

Subaru WRX Safety Ratings

The most recent independent crash testing for the 2019 Subaru WRX gave it high scores. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) named it a Top Safety Pick+, the highest honor. To qualify for this, a vehicle must have good ratings in several safety tests, such as the side roof strength and driver-side small overlap front tests.

The high scores for the WRX are likely due to the standard complement of safety features, which include driver, passenger, front head, rear head, and front side airbags; also brake assist, ABS, daytime running lights, traction control, and electronic stability control. Given the EyeSight® safety suite, we expect the new model year to earn the same scores.
