Under the Hood of the 2015 Subaru Outback

The standard model of the 2015 Subaru Outback is powered by a 2.5-liter DOHC aluminum-alloy 16-valve horizontally opposed four-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine with a Dual Active Valve Control System. This engine produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque and gets an EPA-estimated 33 highway and 25 city mpg. 

The vehicle also offers a more powerful engine option: a 3.6-liter DOHC aluminum-alloy 24-valve horizontally opposed six-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine with a Dual Active Valve Control System. This engine produces 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque and gets an EPA-estimated 27 highway and 20 city mpg. 

Both engines are paired with the Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission with six-speed manual mode and paddle shifters.

The Outback comes standard with an adjustable CFC-free air conditioning system with rotary controls for temperature and a fan with four speeds, but you can upgrade to the dual-zone automatic digital climate control system, which has controls for temperature, airflow direction, CFC-free air conditioning, a six-speed fan, and dual-zone lockout. 

The 2015 Outback offers a standard 6.2-inch infotainment system with a high-resolution touchscreen with HD radio audio system. This system includes STARLINK smartphone integration, a CD player, a USB port/iPod control, hands-free phone connectivity, four speakers, and Bluetooth audio streaming. Though you'll get the biggest bang for your buck with the 7-inch premium infotainment system with optional Harman Kardon and navigation.
