When it comes to two great SUVs, how do you choose the right one for you and your family? There's a lot of debate on the Subaru Ascent vs. Honda Pilot in particular, which is why we're here to help make that decision a lot simpler for you.

Our team at Bill Rapp Subaru took both cars for a spin through Syracuse, Oneida, and Liverpool to see how they both perform on the road. Read on to find out how they match up, as well as which vehicle provided us with the best driving experience!

Ascent vs Pilot: Dimensions

Everyone will have space to spare in the Subaru Ascent, as this SUV comes with tons of room for up to eight passengers to stretch out and relax. It offers 41.3 inches of front headroom, 42.2 inches of front legroom, and 61.1 inches of front shoulder room. In the end, that all adds up to 153.5 cubic feet of total passenger volume.

When it comes to packing all your stuff, the Subaru Ascent has you covered. It offers a maximum cargo volume of 86.5 cubic feet behind the first row, ensuring you'll be able to bring along whatever you need for your journey.

The Pilot, on the other hand, has slightly less space to offer than the Subaru. It has 39.5 inches of front headroom and 40.9 inches of front legroom. All told, you end up with 153.1 cubic feet of passenger volume for eight people.

As for cargo space, you'll get a sizable amount, but only when you put the 60/40-split second and third rows down to make room. While still impressive, this just doesn't match the overall space provided by the Subaru Ascent.

Subaru Ascent vs Honda Pilot: Safety Features

Subaru is committed to keeping you safe on the road, and that adds up to a ton of great features to maximize your security whenever you're behind the wheel.

The Subaru Ascent equips drivers with Eyesight® Driver Assist Technology. This safety suite does it all: It optimizes cruise control, alerts you if you start drifting out of your lane, and provides you with pre-collision braking and throttle management, so you can stop on a dime and stay safe on the road.

The Honda Pilot, in contrast, offers drivers Honda Sensing®. This collection of safety systems includes similar features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, road departure alerts, and Collision Mitigation Braking System™.

While it's a comprehensive safety package, it lacks the throttle control offered by the Subaru Ascent, which can prove extremely useful in preventing a collision.
