Impreza vs Legacy: Performance
The 2021 Impreza is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. It's standard with a 5-speed manual transmission. You can also opt for the available Continuously Variable Transmission.
The 2021 Legacy is equipped with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. There's also an available 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine for more power. Both engine options are paired with the Continuously Variable Transmission.
These two engines are close, but the Legacy has a bit more power and is slightly quicker. Its higher torque also makes the power distribution more effective. That being said, the smaller size and tight turning radius of the Impreza improves its handling and agility.
Both have standard advanced all-wheel drive systems that handle inclement weather conditions. Both vehicles also offer effective steering, reliable braking, and a confident driving experience. Choosing between the two is a matter of minimal performance differences.
Interior Space and Comfort
Both the Subaru Impreza and the Subaru Legacy have comfortable, supportive seating with plush materials that accommodates five people. Due to its compact size, the Impreza offers less legroom and headroom for rear passengers; however, the front seat is more comfortable for tall drivers and passengers.
The Legacy has an advantage with cargo space, offering 15.1 cubic feet of space to the Impreza's 12.3 cubic feet. In either case, the Impreza and the Legacy offer a quiet interior, wide door openings and roof clearance for easy entry and exit, and plenty of comfort and convenience upgrades.
