2018 Subaru Outback Trim Levels

2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i

The 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i is the base trim. It runs on a 2.5L 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER® engine that gets 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.

This engine works alongside a Lineatronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With paddle shifters and 6-speed manual mode, you have the freedom to control the gear shifts without a clutch.

The CVT helps the engine and drivetrain perform more efficiently. This is one of the ways the 2018 Subaru Outback gets up to an EPA estimated 25 MPG city and 32 MPG highway.

Like every Subaru Outback, the 2.5i comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Features like X-MODE® and Hill Descent Control give you the ability to navigate anything from slick roads to steep inclines. The 8.7-inch ground clearance lets you drive through streams and over rocks with ease.

Inside, you'll find a 6.5-inch Multimedia LCD touchscreen for SUBARU STARLINK™.  This infotainment system brings together Bluetooth® controls for hands-free phone calls and entertainment options like Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, and Pandora®.

There's a USB port on the dashboard for smartphone integration with the Aha™ app. Also, up front, you'll find a 12-volt power outlet. There's a second one in the trunk to give you more connection options.

There's plenty of convenience in the storage area with 60/40-split flat-folding rear seatbacks. For extra storage, roof rails with retractable crossbars and tie-downs are also standard. 

2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

The next available trim is the 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium. It adds technology to give you more entertainment and comfort.

The SUBARU STARLINK™ system on this trim gets upgraded to an 8-inch screen and additional apps like iHeartRadio®, Magellan® navigation, and SiriusXM® All Access Radio and Travel Link® are added on.

You'll get more comfortable behind the wheel of this trim with heated front seats and the 10-way power adjustable driver's seat. The dual-zone automatic climate control system will help you set the right environment for both the front and back seats.

At your command, you'll have a little more class with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter handle.

While you enjoy these comfort features, the STARLINK™ Safety Plus system will be watching out for you. This safety system adds Automatic Collision Notifications, Enhances Roadside Assistance, and Diagnostic Alerts.

You'll have more visibility on this trim too with standard fog lights and heated exterior mirrors.

2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited

The 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited adds even more interior style along with some driver assistance technology.

Leather upholstered seats with distinctive stitching are standard, as is woodgrain-patterned matte finish accent trim, and a power moonroof.

You'll have more protection around you in this trim with Blind-Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Your sound system gets a boost too. The Harmon Kardon® premium audio system features 12 speakers, a subwoofer, and 576-watt GreenEdge® amplifier.

2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring

Inside the 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring, you'll find the same engine and transmission as the previous trims, but with more awareness of what's around you.

The Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology bundle is standard. It includes the following safety features:

• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning
• Pre-Collision Braking
• Pre-Collision Throttle Management

There's also standard LED Steering Responsive Headlights so you'll be able to see what's around the bend while you're turning.

One additional piece of luxury style is added to this trim too. A heated steering wheel is standard for comfort while driving during the winter.

2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited

Our first trim with a different engine is the 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited. It's powered by a 3.6L SUBARU BOXER® engine that gets 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.

A more powerful Lineatronic® High-Torque Continuously Variable Transmission (HCVT) works with this larger engine. It also has 6-speed manual mode and paddler shifters.

The design features sporty accent points to show off this additional power like dual exhaust ports, body color door handles, and 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a black finish.

2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring

The final trim is the 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring. It runs on the same engine and transmission as the previous trim but brings back all the security of Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology.

It also has come Touring edition styling like chrome door handles, a rear bumper, silver low-profile roof rails, and 18-inch wheels with a dark gray finish.
