The 2015 Subaru Impreza is a great vehicle, but check out the updates it receives for 2017 in this review!
This year's Subaru Impreza boasts a subtle refresh with a new front-end style, better infotainment, more advanced safety features, and improved gas mileage. It's still the only model in its class to offer all-wheel drive as a standard feature, so it remains an attractive choice for anyone searching for a subcompact car with the ability to go, no matter the road conditions.

Examining the Exterior of the 2015 Subaru Impreza
Subaru's subtle redesign of the 2015 Impreza offers a new style for the headlights, bumper, and grille. The overall effect gives the Impreza a look that's much closer to that of the Legacy sedan.
Impreza sedan models now sport a lip spoiler mounted on the trunk, and a third LED brake light has also been added. Both the hatchback and sedan models have a look that makes excellent use of chunky styling elements to give the vehicles an upright and purposeful stance.
Impreza Interior Design
The 2015 Subaru Impreza features rear seats with a convenient fold-flat feature to provide more cargo space, and there's a wide variety of useful trays, cubbies, bins, and cupholders to meet your in-vehicle space needs. It also offers a pair of outlets that provide 12-volt power.
Another improvement is a thicker glass on the sides of the vehicle, which is meant to resolve one of the most common complaints about the Impreza: too much exterior road noise.
Powerhouse Specs of the 2015 Impreza
The standard Subaru Impreza models feature a flat (horizontally opposed) 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque that's distributed through a manual five-speed gearbox or the second generation of the Lineartronic transmission. This is Subaru's continuously variable transmission, which provides a more responsive and fuel-efficient option to the standard-equipment manual gearbox.
Subaru Impreza Safety Features
The 2015 Subaru Impreza continues a long tradition of vehicles specifically designed with safety in mind. Available safety features include the following:
- Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive: When conditions become treacherous, power is automatically delivered to the wheels with the most traction, allowing you to avoid slides and spinouts, even in bad conditions.
- BOXER Engine: While engines aren't typically considered safety features, Subaru's BOXER engine offers a horizontal layout that gives the Impreza a lower center of gravity, improving response and handling.
- Vehicle Dynamics Control: This senses input from the braking and steering systems and works to keep the Impreza from drifting out of its intended path of travel.
- Smart Braking Technology: The Impreza's anti-lock braking system is paired with Electronic Brake Force Distribution technology to provide balance to the braking system and assistance in situations where a panic stop occurs.Â
- Eyesight Driver Assist:Â This technology monitors the flow of traffic around your vehicle, helps to optimize the cruise control, and alerts you if you begin to drift out of your lane. It can also automatically stop the vehicle if a collision is about to occur.
- Advanced Protection System: Each Impreza boasts seven airbags that are deployed according to a variety of sensors in order to operate as effectively as possible. The high-tensile steel frame is specifically designed to redirect the energy of an impact around the exterior of the vehicle rather than through the passenger compartment. Â
