Power and Efficiency of the 2015 Subaru Forester

The 2015 Subaru Forester's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower, which is available in all trim models, gets an EPA -estimated 24 city and 32 highway mpg. Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard with 17-inch wheels and 18-inch alloy wheels available with the 2.0XT Premium model. The 2.0XT Premium model and the 2.0XT Touring have the 2.0 turbo-charged engine.

A continuous variable transmission is available for all models and is standard with the turbo. A six-speed manual shift is available with the 2.5i models.

Standard Equipment of the Subaru Forester

The list of standard equipment on all models of the Forester is impressive and includes the following:

• A height-adjustable driver's seat
• A color multi-function display
• Bluetooth phone connection for hands-free use
• A tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel
• Cruise control
• A CD player with four-speaker sound system and USB port

The Premium package adds options such as the roof rails, panorama sunroof, rear privacy glass, power tailgate lift, spoiler, climate control, and an all-weather package. The all-weather package includes heated side mirrors and front seats along with fog lights and automatic headlights. 

Subaru Safety

All Subaru Forester models come with a rearview camera standard. This is the start of the safety features that give this Subaru a near-perfect crash-test score. Front and side curtain airbags, knee airbags, anti-lock disc brakes, and traction control add to the safety rating. 

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded five stars to the Forester for crash protection overall, with the Driver Assist Safety package included in the rating. This option includes Lane Departure Warning, Hillside Assist, Front Collision Warning, and automatic braking. The IIHS gave the Front Collision Mitigation and Braking System a superior.

The optional touchscreen navigation system is an additional safety feature.

2015 Forester Interior

The 2015 Forester interior continues with Subaru's traditional minimalist concept and a quiet cabin. The lines are clean with steering wheel-mounted controls. The rear seats are higher than the front seats, affording a better view for passengers and added ample legroom. Extensive windows give good visibility. Leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel come with the Premium and Touring models.

A major interior feature is the 74.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. The space is 68.5 cubic feet with the sunroof. Both offer adequate room for carrying cargo.

Exterior of the 2015 Subaru Forester

The 2015 Subaru Forester comes with six trim packages. This includes the dual exhaust system on the turbo Premium models. Eight different exterior colors are offered, from Satin White Pearl to Crystal Black Silica.

The Forester has sculpted side metals with grille wings and tapered headlamps. A higher hood line and chiseled front end are new to the 2015 models.

The Forester has a wide-track lengthened wheelbase and rigid central structure for off-road driving. The chassis limits body roll on rough roads.
